Usually, when the cops come to school, it’s because there’s been an incident. But these officers had a much funkier reason for showing up.

You may or may not heard of The Git Up Challenge. Like many internet dance sensations that have come before it, it involves different people dancing to a certain song. In this instance, it’s The Git Up by Blanco Brown.

People all over the world have been strutting their stuff to the country rap. But the cops in this video may just have pulled off the most impressive performance yet.

Before now, pregnant women, babies, construction workers and all sorts of people have entertained the internet with their moves.

It’s hard to deny that the song’s mix of rap and country music makes you want to move. There’s just something about these two different musical genres melding together that works.

The students at this high school were keen to record their own version of the dance.

So the football team and the cheerleaders all entertained the school with their performance. But what most of the kids weren’t expecting was what happened next.

About halfway through the song, the students all cleared out, and four cops took their place in the middle of the stage. This sure was strange timing for a community announcement!

But then the cops pick up from where the students left off, literally. The lyrics say “to the left, to the left,” and the cops raise their hands to the left. Then they do the same to the right.

Then, with the lyrics “gonna roll your shoulders,” the cops lean back and roll their shoulders. Some cops have trouble following orders, but obviously not these ones.

Then the cops really get into it. When the lyrics say “gon’ and do the two step then cowboy boogie,” they really get into it.

As the cops are moving to the lyrics “gon take a sip,” some of the football players run back on stage. They stand in between the cops and join in with the performance.

And just when the sight couldn’t get any odder, two of the school’s mascots run onto the floor. Yes, the mascots are dinosaurs. And yes, apparently dinosaurs love to dance.

The dancers then finish off the song without a slip-up, which is impressive, as the dinosaurs’ tails look like a major tripping hazard.

The kids flood the stage and applaud. Clearly, this was something special!

Since the school posted this video online, it has become quite a hit. In just three weeks, it has managed to gain over 250,000 views. Clearly, people far and wide have watched and enjoyed this very unique performance.

You may think that you can do an impressive version of The Git Up Challenge, but do you really think that it will be as good as the one that mixes schoolkids with cops and dinosaurs?

The kids at this school are clearly having a great time. It must be so fun to be part of a community that works hard but also plays hard and expresses creativity together.

Who would think that a country music/rap crossover could produce something like this video!?
